Our Connection

Community Impact
Over the years, FBC-CDC has:
• Invested in the future by awarding the David Nickens Scholarship Fund to local students.
• Supported historically Black colleges and universities, including Wilberforce University.
• Connected seniors, families, and young people with resources that meet real needs.
• Provided opportunities for education and workforce training that change lives.

FIRST BAPTIST COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
Building Hope. Preserving Heritage. Empowering Our Community.
The First Baptist Community Development Corporation (FBC-CDC) was founded in 2005 under the direction of our former Pastor Dr. Jonathan McReynolds as the nonprofit arm of First Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Ohio. From the very beginning, our goal has been simple but powerful: to uplift and strengthen our community through education, empowerment, and faith in action.

Our Mission
We exist to serve our community in practical ways—helping people move forward through education, opportunity, and cultural preservation. Everything we do is rooted in our church’s ministry and guided by the call to love our neighbors.
What We Do.
Workforce Development
We equip individuals with the tools they need to succeed in today’s workforce. From resume-building workshops to artificial intelligence and customer service training, we are preparing our neighbors for lasting careers. Our vision includes developing a call center in Chillicothe to bring jobs directly to our community.
Heritage & Preservation
Through the David Nickens Heritage Center, we celebrate and preserve the legacy of African American history in Ross County. We believe honoring our past is essential for building a stronger future.
Community Support
We care for the whole person and the whole community. Our programs include the annual Senior Health Fair, food distribution efforts, and youth engagement activities. We’ve also revived Vacation Bible School, welcoming over 100 children to learn, grow, and have fun in a safe and faith-filled environment.
